2nd Grade Old Fashion unit

Here are some pictures of the 2nd graders “Old fashion” unit they have been learning about the last couple weeks!! The students have been given the opportunity to learn about the Lakota Native American History, by having an Elder, Jerome Kills Small, present to the students about Clothing, food, games, teepees as well as oral stories. Jerome taught the students a lot and they want to thank him for that!!

The students have also been doing different classroom activities to learn about what it was like to live in the Midwest over 150 years ago! They celebrated last Friday by dressing like their ancestors and playing old fashion games, as well as square dancing!!! The 2nd graders received an old fashion lunch and had Pastor Sandy and his son, Adrian, show the students how to make their own rope, like they did in the old fashion days!!! The kids had a great day celebrating what like was like many years ago!!
